Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

The ACA imposed significant new responsibilities on employers. Certain employers must now offer health insurance to employees that meets specific affordability and value standards. The law also created new reporting requirements and imposed a shared responsibility tax on employers who do not meet the ACA’s value and affordability mandates.

Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010

Congress amended the ACA almost immediately after it passed in a number of ways, including delaying the tax on so-called “Cadillac health-care plans” and lowering the penalty tax on individuals who do not purchase insurance. Read the full text of the law here.
